Gutter guards can be useful when they solve a real debris problem. They are not automatically necessary for every home, and they do not make a gutter system maintenance-free.
They are most compelling when
- Nearby trees repeatedly fill the gutters
- The roofline is difficult to access safely
- Cleaning frequency is becoming a recurring burden
Ask the right question
Instead of asking whether a guard blocks “all debris,” ask what happens with the specific leaves, needles, seeds, or fine material around your home and how the system will be inspected later.
