A new gutter system starts with water flow
Good gutter installation is more than fastening metal along a roof edge. The layout has to collect runoff, maintain enough slope to move water toward outlets, support the gutter so it does not sag, and route discharge through downspouts to a sensible location.
What should be evaluated before installation
- Roofline length, slope, valleys, and areas that concentrate runoff
- Existing fascia condition and attachment points
- Gutter size and material
- Downspout quantity and placement
- Where each downspout will discharge
- Obstacles such as walks, patios, landscaping, and grade changes
5-inch or 6-inch?
There is no single size that is automatically correct for every house. Roof area, roof pitch, concentrated valley flow, outlet capacity, and downspout layout all matter. A larger gutter can provide more capacity, but the rest of the drainage path still needs to keep up.
Seamless installation
Seamless gutters are formed in long continuous runs for each straight roof section. That reduces the number of field seams compared with sectional systems and creates a clean appearance. Corners and transitions still require joints, so careful sealing and layout remain important.
